Loving, Looking Forward to, Wearing, Reading, and Cooking
Loving . . .
Dear husband always buys a remembrance bouquet
I'm
loving these beautiful hydrangeas! Every year for as long as I can remember, my husband has bought me a bouquet in memory of my sister that was killed in an accident. We don't live near the cemetery for me to visit, so putting out a bouquet in memory of lost loved ones has been our way of honoring them and slowing down to remember them.
Looking Forward to . . .
I am
looking forward to harvesting some beautiful saffron threads! These were planted on the first day of autumn and they will start blooming soon. Wearing . . .
To be quite honest, I've been mostly wearing the same two pairs of shorts and plain black cotton t-shirts. I've been so uncomfortable with abdominal pain and find that comfort is more important than fashion. However, I did have a doctor's appointment the other day and it felt so nice to actually get dressed with fall colors! We are back this week to out of the ordinary summer heat and I'm anxiously waiting for cold weather to add layers and sweaters and cozy socks.
Reading . . .
I'm so far behind in my Bible reading. I had such good intentions to complete the Bible again, but as my health spiraled downward, I just lost any energy for much of anything. Even watching a television show is exhausting. I've decided that I need to start slow again, and I'm starting to read Praying the Bible by Donald S. Whitney.
Cooking . . .
My slow cookers are probably my favorite kitchen appliances. I've been using them a lot lately for making spaghetti sauce, taco soup, chili and pictured is an enchilada spaghetti squash. My family said it tasted good, but it wasn't a favorite. It smelled wonderful though! I've also been cooking/baking sourdough bread and pumpkins have been a lot of fun. I am quite certain that I will make pumpkins throughout the entire autumn season.
