Currently January

loving, looking forward to, resolving, doing to stay cozy this month, and cooking

I think this little meme sounds like fun, so I'm going to try it this month.

loving
I'm loving the clean spaces with Christmas decor put away.  It feels less cluttered and has me deep in thought on the excess clutter that may also be a strain on my energy levels.

looking forward to

I am looking forward to putting a puzzle together each month.  My Christmas wish was a lightweight puzzle board and I'm excited to put this gift to good use.

resolving

Spending some quiet time with Bible reading/study is a top priority this year.  I usually have done the Bible in 90 Days, but this year, I am doing the Bible Recap, journaling with In Every Season, and also writing out my Gratitude list.  I also will share my monthly goals, at the bottom of this post of other things I hope to resolve this month.

doing to stay cozy this month

I "plan" to make a temperature blanket this year.  I attempted this in the past and had some health issues and it just got to be a little too much.  This month I am finishing up my grandson's blanket and then this will be started.  The color palette is done, I have the yarn, and just need to come up with the measurements for rows.  I am planning on tweaking this into a smaller blanket after I saw & pinned a blog post that combined two days for each row.  This sounds a little more doable and I'll just need to be a little creative to find a way to possibly incorporate our rain & snow days and figure out the temperatures.  This first week, we've had temperatures kind of all over - it will be fun to see them come together.

 Cooking

Homemade trail mix is pretty much a staple in our home.  I use equal part of dark chocolate chips, low-salt almonds, whole cashews and tart dried cherries.

I was unexpectedly forced to buy 2 new crockpots this month already.  My smaller one just cracked while it was cooking and my large one ruined a meal by dying mid-cooking and leaving a meal sitting cold until I noticed.  With that said, I went on a hunt because I use my crockpots a lot!  - This new one is a little larger and I'm hoping it will hold all my spaghetti sauce.  This month already we've cooked taco soup, turkey bone broth, pot roast, and deer stew in the slow cookers.

This first week of January, a favorite dish of Sausage Penne Pasta was on the menu.
