Meatless Meals

This past month, I have been trying to make healthier choices for our family.  It's not something that will happen overnight, but I hope that by taking small steps we will start to see big changes.   I think it will be fun to look back at these posts and see how it all comes together.

  • Sugar - Trying to use "less" sugar and a better choice.  This change is costly in our tight budget, so I'm not completely changing this out, but making it available and will be testing it out in recipes.  We aren't really big sugar users, but my husband does use it daily in his coffee.  Now getting him to use it will be the greater task!  I don't usually use sugar in my tea, but tried it and it tasted fine.  I usually only use sugar to make sweets and that isn't very often. 
  • Smoothies - I'm not a breakfast fan.  I can easily skip eating until lunch, but I know that this is not the healthiest choice.  I've been trying to make a small smoothie with kale, chia seeds, frozen fruit and water/juice each morning. I've been doing good and look forward to trying new options to make it even healthier.
  • Meatless Meals - I have been trying 1x a week a meal that is without meat.  This is a big challenge for my family while I have thoroughly enjoyed this change.
