His Steadfast Love Endures Forever

136 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
    for His steadfast love endures forever.

Happy Thanksgiving!  We are on our second day of beautiful snow falling.  It's icy cold and a very different Thanksgiving for us.  We are not gathering until this weekend and it feels strange to not be preparing a turkey with all the trimmings.  My heart felt heavy and a bit melancholy, as many chairs will be empty around today's table.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  It's a day that we gather, share a meal, and whisper gratitude.  It's a celebration without the focus on "things" - it's not about getting something, but about the gathering in gratitude. 

But it's not about the date on a calendar.  Watching the snow fall is restful and needed. I love the mountain snow and it's a gift to sit by the warmth of flames dancing and watch it fall quietly and cover the ground.  

“... in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Today, I give thanks, for this is God's will for me.  I am humbled for this and the gift of  today.
