A seasonal rhythm. Cozy baking smells, nourishing family, nurturing my soul . . . tradition.
This year was a little different. Timing was off from our usual September apple picking. The Honey Crisp apples were beautiful and went on sale and I decided to have a small apple canning day. This year, I wanted to try canning some apple pie filling and then went a step further and made some Red Hots candy applesauce.
The Red Hots applesauce was a cinnamon fun twist! The color is beautiful in the jars.
The apple pie filling proved to be overall too sweet for our liking - we prefer our homemade apple crumble over the super sweet pie filling.
It was good for my heart, though. It kept me busy doing something I love.
